Chapter 2
Day Dawning on a New
Horizon
Eve St. Claire stirred as the
morning light peaked over barren Camelback Mountain and into her bedroom
through the spotless glass of the patio door. Propping her head on her soft,
cotton pillow, she caught some of the first rays of light that had arrived to
grace the city of Phoenix one more time. The sun in all its glory was a
presence and a power to her. Another body in the bed stirred beside her. It pulled
the sheet up, exposing a perfectly round, smooth, bare bottom that was almost
as bright in its whiteness as the fiery ball in the morning sky. It was Jasper,
her husband, or at least a part of him. She leaned over, lifted the sheet, and
gently kissed his forehead. He stirred slightly, but never left the realm of
his dream world.
Eve quietly got out of bed,
stretched, and raised her arms as she pulled her petite satin nightgown over
her head. This revealed the slender body of a beautiful young brunette with
intense soft brown eyes who seemed to be pleased with the world around her. She
had always known what she wanted, always been sure of herself. It had been this
quality more than any other that had attracted Jasper to her. And Jasper St.
Claire had been the only man in her young life whom she had ever given herself
to, to whom she had ever wanted to give herself. They would be man and wife
until one of them left this earth.
